Why I’m Backing April Chan for EBMUD Ward 7

I’ve spent five decades behind the piano; playing, writing and producing. Backing singers like Van Morrison taught me to serve the song instead of stepping on it, and after all these years you get a feel for who’s the real deal.

When a friend I trust told me about April Chan, I got on the phone with her.

What I found is somebody who serves the song and does the work. She helped bring $279 million in out-of-view budget transfers to light and pushed for reforms to fix it. And right now she’s out on doorsteps in Ward 7, listening to what the people need.

When I was twenty, I played for Chuck Berry and he taught me the first rule of this business: somebody’s got to count the money. Well, April counts it.

Northern California was home for 40 years of my career, and I’m still rooting for the people there.

Let the economists lecture. April actually delivers.
